I’m reporting the baseline score, rather than the raw score, for each benchmark (where a score of 1000 is the score a Power Mac G5 1.6GHz would receive). The brand new Apple Mac mini was released earlier this week.
There is now a Plex client for these players. The Roku players are well known and inexpensive.
The clients rely on a Plex Media Server running either on a Mac or a Windows PC ( and a Linux version is apparently in the works). Of course, how much of a performance improvement does the switch to Core 2 Duo processors bring to the Mac mini? To find out, I've compiled a comparison of the new Mac mini models against most of the previous Mac mini models (including the PowerPC-based Mac minis) using Geekbench 2 results from the Geekbench Browser. There are Plex clients on Mac's, iDevices, LG TV's. While the Mac mini updates are much more modest than the iMac updates, they're still significant, and with the Mac mini's move from the Core Duo to the Core 2 Duo, Apple's current computer lineup is 64-bit (which is a first for a PC manufacturer, I believe).

If you can set your mac to output 120hz and your tv actually supports 120hz input (most dont, just 24hz and 60hz) you wouldn't need to 'adjust framerate with video'. Thanks, but I want to run Plex from the Mac Mini (much better transcoding and fewer limitations) and have just the various movie files on the NAS. Pulldown happens on the Mac if it outputs 60hz progressive. Ive recently really got into Plex and would like to take advantage of transcoding. I have exactly the same problem with my Mac Mini PPC (not Intel). your mac will need to be set to 24hz (or 120hz) to get 24p output. The mini has a dongle of external drives attached with mixed media. Wifi works fine but i prefer hard wiring the rokus because i can run 1080. I use rokus around the house to stream to the tvs. Sometimes when the vm's choke up the Mac also freezes which is surprising for a vm to affect the host pc. I gave been running plex on a a mac mini from 2007 (under 250 on ebay) wired up to cat5 and it runs just fine. Remote login to the Mac is not as fast as it used to be.
It's have been an excellent kit but due to lack of new OS support its becoming very annoying of late despite a fresh install. It also hosts a couple of windows VMware vm's that I spin up when required.
